SAMS Civil and Drainage is a family owned, locally operated business based in Mount Maunganui specialising in commercial and residential drainage and earthworks throughout the Tauranga and Bay of Plenty region.
In 2025 we rebranded from our former company name The Drainage Department Limited” to “SAMS Civil and Drainage”. As we grew over the years so too did our capabilities, our service offerings (not just drainage!), and the markets we served. While our much loved The Drainage Department brand paved the way for the business we decided it was time to rebrand to reflect who we are today and also symbolise our vision for the future and wider scope of services.
We have an amazing team of skilled drainlayers who pride themselves on their high standard of craftsmanship, care and attention to detail no matter how big or small the job is. At SAMS we believe in starting as you mean to go on, with a quality drainage and earthworks supplier you are beginning your project on a fantastic note.
Director Sam Arundel is a Certified Drainlayer and plumber (Registered Member of the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB)). With over 18 years experience in the industry and having worked across hundreds of civil and drainage projects Sam has the knowledge to skill to guide your projects to achieve maximum efficiency with a quality outcome.
Sam was also the winner of the 2022 New Zealand Plumber, Gasfitter or Drainlayer of the Year award.
